In today's Physical Friday episode we talk about diet.  Everyone knows that having a healthy nutritional diet is important to health and fitness.  It is equally important to maintain a vigorous physical diet of exercise and mobility for good health. As we have discussed recently it is also extremely important to pay attention to the sleep diet as well.  There is another diet that is rarely discussed as it pertains to physical health and that is your Mental Diet.

What is a Mental Diet?  Your Mental Diet is everything that you read, watch or listen to.  There are choices to be made on each of these that can result in massive changes in mental and physical health.  Opting for positive influences over negative can mean the difference in success or failure.  Creating and maintaining a diet full of positive books, documentaries, motivational movies, educational podcasts and following uplifting social media accounts over a diet cluttered with political news, reality tv shows, Hollywood gossip, and negative social media can make a difference so huge in someone's life that it is difficult to describe.

It is said that you are the sum of the 5 people that you spend the most time with.  If that is true, which it certainly seems to be, then why would you not also be equally affected by the things you watch, read and listen to?  There is no mystery here.  You are affected by these things greatly.  You also have the choice to choose positive over negative, education over entertainment or reading a good book over mindlessly trolling through negative social media accounts.
